A group of international bloggers spent a day at RNW earlier this week. They are in the Netherlands at the invitation of The Hague to join in today's celebrations of 100 years of The Peace Palace.
Three of the participants were prevented from travelling to the Netherlands. A blogger from Aleppo, Syria was detained at the border with Lebanon as he went to collect his visa and tortured by security officials. A blogger focusing on LGBT rights in Russia also decided not to attend at the last moment because his NGO has come under heavy scrutiny by the authorities. A Cuban participant was stopped at Havana Airport this past weekend. He finally arrived on Wednesday afternoon.
While at RNW they discussed the blog posts they have been preparing on the theme “Peace and Justice – do they belong together?” Here's a brief impression of their visit.
